What is an Anestheologist?
Anesthesiologists are doctors who specialize in giving patients anesthesia, which is medicine that controls pain and puts you to sleep during surgery. They are also responsible for monitoring patients while they're under the effects of these drugs after surgery.Anesthesiologists evaluate, monitor, supervise patients before/during/after surgery, delivering anesthesia, and also lead the Anesthesia Care Team.
What is Anesthesia?
Anesthesia is a drug that prevents patients from feeling pain during surgery procedures. General anesthesia, used for major operations, brings unconsciousness, puts you to sleep, and makes you unable to move. Sedation anesthesia, often used for minimal surgery, blocks pain and causes sleepiness, but doesn't put you to sleep.
